The City incorporated in 1989. Since that time, the community has experienced a significant level of growth to the current population of approximately 50,500 residents. The City maintains more than a dozen recreational facilities including 10 parks, one senior center, a community center/gymnasium, equestrian arena and skateboard park. In addition to the City facilities, the community contains Yucaipa Valley Regional Park and the newly acquired Wildwood Canyon State Park. Schools are provided by the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, Crafton Hills College (one of the colleges associated with the San Bernardino Community College District), and local private institutions. The community boasts of a variety of service clubs, youth sports programs and a myriad of faith-based organizations.
